Many topics on nano-scale are being studied with DC transport or at most low-frequency AC signals. We are interested in frequencies in the hundreds of GHz range. The photons have energies in the meV range, which is in particular interesting if the energy-levels in the nano-objects do have excitations in this frequency range. This is definitely the case for superconductors but also for carbon nanotubes and some nanoscale semiconductor structures. We are interested in PhD candidates with a good understanding of solid state physics, good experimental skills and with a drive towards fundamental understanding.
