In this talk I highlight some recent developments in the field of brain imaging. In particular, I focus on the successes and challenges of a promising technique called diffusion magnetic resonance imaging. I show how concepts from the theory of general relativity can be exploited within this technique to gain insight into the complex structure of the brain, and to reconstruct hidden neural circuits and surfaces.
