Communication in Science
- Compulsory
- End of the first year
- 5 periods spread over 5 weeks followed by 4 individual sessions
- Will be offered 4 times a year
- Max. 20 participants per course
- Arranged by Communication in Science lecturers from the LUMC
Various forms of oral and written presentations will be looked at from the perspective of interaction, with special attention to linguistic aspects. Participants meet for 5 periods for theory and practice sessions (including a video session). The participants use their own material so that they can use what they have learned directly in their own research. Individual consultation with the lecturer (4 half hour sessions) is also a part of the training programme.
Course 3:
13, 20 and 27 September, 4, 11 and 18 October 2011 and -if indicated by the course tutors- language sessions on 29 September and 13 October.
Course 4:
1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 November, 6 December 2011 and -if indicated by the course tutors- language sessions on 17 November and 1 December.
Science PhD's for whom this course is compulsory will be informed by the Graduate School Office. Other participants can enroll (on condition that there are places available) by filling in the submission form on this site.
Costs
PhD's: free of charge
For staff of Leiden University: € 750
External participants: € 900
Cancellation
In the event of cancellation within twee weeks before the first training session we will charge the full fee of € 750.
