COMSOL Multiphysics® introduction course

Date:

Time:

10:00 - 16:00 hrs

Location:

Huygens Lab 106, Leiden

If you are a new user of COMSOL Multiphysics® and a student at the Leiden University, this free training course will help you learn how to be productive solving simulations using the COMSOL® software. We start at an introductory level, then we address topics needed in some analyses, and finally we progress into more advanced multiphysics simulations.

To teach this course, we use a combination of guided hands-on training, theoretical and practical lecture, and self-guided hands-on training. The goal is to immerse you in all of the main aspects of using COMSOL Multiphysics®, so that you feel comfortable with most of the commands accessible from the user interface. You will leave the course feeling confident that you are correctly solving your simulation problems with COMSOL Multiphysics®.

Course Topics

By considering a variety of models, we will bring out points to help you get the most out of each step in the modeling process. In particular, we will consider:

  • Modeling with COMSOL Multiphysics®

  • Geometry modeling in 2D and 3D

  • Specifying physics conditions

  • Couplings between physics

  • Using expressions

  • Controlling mesh generation

  • Analysis type and solver choices

  • Postprocessing options

Based on time and the interests of the participants, some or all of the above topics will be considered. This free-of-charge event is open to anyone at Leiden University who would like to start working with the software.
