You are all welcome to join the monthly event ‘Inspiring Talks from the WIQD World’!

Every month an inspiring role model will talk about her journey: what did she do to get to the point where she is today? What obstacles did she encountered, what successes did she celebrate and what tips does she have for her audience?

More information and link for registration can be found on this WIQD-page. When you register for the event you will receive the online link via e-mail in the week of the event.

Speaker: Sonja Bernitt
Sonja Bernitt studied physics at the University of Heidelberg, from where she got her PhD for work conducted at the Max-Planck-Institute for Nuclear Physics. She then joined the University of Jena as a postdoc, and later moved to a position at the Helmholtz-Institute Jena. Since 2022, she is working at the GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt. She continues teaching in Jena. Her work has led her to many different ultrabrilliant x-ray synchrotron and free-electron laser light sources, like PETRA III in Hamburg or LCLS in Menlo Park, California. There she studies the interaction of intense x-ray pulses with trapped ions in high charge states, gathering data indispensable for x-ray astrophysics.

Event organized by WIQD (Women in Quantum Development, pronounced “wicked”) is a professional network for quantum technology enthusiasts from industry, academia and policy. Their mission is to bring together women in quantum in the Netherlands, and beyond, for support, networking, and community growth. Events are open to all genders (binary and non-binary) working in or with quantum computing development.
