A major open problem in the field of superconducting nanowire single photon detectors is that the detection mechanism is poorly understood. The aim of our workshop is to gather together and interpret the experimental evidence which has been gathered in the last years regarding the detection mechanism in SNSPDs, and to use these results to build a picture of the detection mechanism.
