Technology Foundation STW has awarded a Valorisation Grant of 25 kEuro to investigate the commercial feasibility of a spin-off company performing luminescence dating. Luminescence dating is used for age determination in earth sciences and archaeology.
In recent years the demand for non-academic applications of the method has increased strongly. This demand comes from archaeological excavation companies, musea and restoration experts. The STW grant allows Dr. Jakob Wallinga and Dr. Menno Blaauw of the section Radiation Detection and Medical Imaging to investigate the commercial feasibility of a ‘Delft Luminescence Dating Company’.
