Target audience
Young researchers (PhDs and postdocs) who work with Leiden University and who are going to write a grant proposal.
Purpose
It is essential for young researchers to be able to obtain independent research funding in order to advance their career. In this workshop you will learn how to write an excellent grant proposal.
Contents
In this training the different grant opportunities suitable for young researchers are explored, focusing on individual grants. We pay special attention to the purpose of the grant as envisioned by the grant organisation and how to make the proposal a perfect fit with this purpose. Furthermore, you will learn how to present your research project optimally. This involves making the proposal both structured and concise, presenting yourself properly and emphasizing such aspects as innovation, uniqueness and relevance to leave a distinctive impression to the judging committee.
Working method
In alternating informative and interactive activities, you will learn to apply the information presented to your own situation. The course will include a talk by an experienced guest speaker
As during this training you will not only get the tools, but also put them to practise by starting to write or by improving your own research proposal, this training will be most valuable when you at least have a research idea to work with.
