BN Seminar
Abstract:
Multiple advances in cryo-electron microscopy (EM) together produced an amazing progress in the field. Structures of single protein complexes having a mass of 400 kDa, of helical structures, and of proteins assembled in 100 nm small 3D crystals can now be solved to atomic (3-4 Å) resolution. Cellular compartments and bacterial cells can be visualized at resolutions that allow docking of the structures from the pertinent building blocks. Examples as well as the technology required to achieve these results will be discussed.
