Update May 15th: This course is postponed. We will update the new course dates once we have settled the planning.
This workshop is aimed at PhD students and postdocs who are considering the possibility of starting up their own business after their current contract. After successful editions in 2015, 2017, and 2019, a fourth edition will take place in 2023.
More information on the course program will follow soon.
Instructors: Tjerk Oosterkamp (LION) and Marco Beijersbergen (Cosine).
Prof.dr. Marco Beijersbergen is founder and managing director of cosine. After his PhD in laser physics and optics at Leiden University in 1996, Marco Beijersbergen recognised that there is a need for a company that offers commercial services in physics. He has strong interest in the physical principles behind the development of scientific and industrial instruments. He not only applies that to the benefit of his company's customers, but he also shares his views and thoughts with physics and astronomy students at Leiden University.
Audience: This workshop is aimed at PhDs and postdocs of the Casimir Research School, who are considering the possibility of starting up their own business after their current contract.
Dates and venues: Course dates will be communicated once settled. The course (taking place in Leiden) will comprise two full days. Exact times and classrooms will be announced soon.
