Joost Frenken is receiving a prestigious ERC Advanced Grant to expand the nanotribology research in his group, which is centered around special effects, such as superlubricity and thermolubricity, towards novel strategies to make these microscopic, friction-lowering phenomena ‘survive’ on larger length scales.
