Science writer Margriet van der Heijden (NRC Handelsblad), wrote a double biography of Paul Ehrenfest and Tatiana Afanassjewa, the Austrian-Russian theoretical physicist couple that played a central, enthusing role in the golden age' of physics in Leiden in the beginning of the 20th century. 

Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr and many others were regular visitors in their welcoming house in the Witte Rozenstraat in Leiden. But in 1933, Hitler's coming to power and Ehrenfest's feeling of loosing touch with modern physics drove him to suicide, leaving behind his Tatiana.

Van der Heijden, holding a PhD at CERN and a lecturer at Amsterdam University College, will tell us about her journey, combining the couple's personal writings and archival sources with local impressions into a sensitive portrait (lecture in Dutch)
