QuTech’s Director Research Lieven Vandersypen is selected to be an American Physical Society (APS) Fellow. Less than half a percent of all members of the Society are nominated each year. Being a fellow is a prestigious recognition by peers for outstanding contributions to physics.
The APS Fellowship Program recognizes members who have made exceptional contributions to the physics enterprise in physics research, important applications of physics, leadership in or service to physics, or significant contributions to physics education.
The Society has elected Lieven Vandersypen: ”[f]or pioneering the practical use of spins in quantum information processing, by performing quantum algorithms in liquid-state NMR and demonstrating readout and quantum operations with spin qubits in semiconductor quantum dots.”
