PhD position in Leiden, Huber lab: Development of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Methods for Intrinsically Disordered Proteins
[08-05-2020]
Project: Develop electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) instrumentation and methodology to investigate intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs).
Proteins are the main components of biological systems and participate in almost all processes of life. Their function was supposed to derive from their specific three-dimensional fold, encoded in the amino acid
sequence. Recently, the IDPs, a novel class of proteins was discovered that do not have a stable three-dimensional fold. Therefore, each individual protein will have a different conformation. So how do they
function? Modern EPR methods are immensely suited to investigate this question, so if you are strong in physics and interested in a problem at the forefront of biophysics, please join the team. The project is
carried out in the MoNOS (Molecular Nano-Optics and Spins) group at the Leiden Institute of Physics (https://www.physics.leidenuniv.nl/epr).
