International Doctoral Training Session
Les Houches, France; Course 'Frontiers of condensed matter'

The course is organized jointly by the Ecole Doctorale de Physique de Grenoble (France), the Casimir Research School Delft-Leiden (Netherlands), and the Ecole Doctorale de Physique et d'Astrophysique (PHAST), Lyon (France).
Registration: Participants from Leiden and Delft can register for free for this course; you only need pay for the costs of transportation to Les Houches. You can download the registration form here registration form and send it to edphys@ujf-grenoble.fr together with your CV, a motivationletter and a recommendation letter from your supervisor. The registration deadline is 1 June 2010.
You can contact your education coordinator to see if there are any possibilities to get a reimbursement for your travel expenses.
Programme:
The session will consist of six courses on the following topics:
1. Molecular magnetism, W.Wernsdorfer (Grenoble)
2. Mesoscopic transport and superconductivity, J.Meyer (Grenoble), T.M.Klapwijk (Delft)
3. Quantum information, L.Vandersypen (Delft)
4. Examples of multi-scale modelling, J.L.Barrat (Lyon)
5. Quantum optics, J.M.Gérard (Grenoble)
6. Trends in condensed matter, various speakers
During the session time there will plenty of time for informal discussions between participants and lecturers. A poster session will be organized including a short oral presentation at the beginning of the session.
Les Houches
Les Houches is a village in the Chamonix valley in the French Alps. Established in 1951, the Physics School is situated at 1150m above sea level in natural surroudings, with breathtaking views on the Mont Blanc mountain range. The Les Houches Physics School is affiliated with université Joseph Fourier (UJF) Grenoble. It is joint interuniversity facility of UJF and Grenoble-INP, supported by UJF, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the Direction des Sciences de la Matière du Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique (CEA/DSM).
