https://casimir.researchschool.nl/ is the website of the Casimir Research School (Casimir) and the research program Frontiers of Nanoscience (NanoFront). Casimir and NanoFront take the protection of personal information seriously. We have adopted the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in order to redesign our programme for data protection and data security. The new European legislation has been incorporated into our internal procedures, the training of our staff and the design of our processes, systems and relevant (internal) documentation.

Personal data that we process
Personal data means any information that is traceable to you as a person. Your name, your home address or email address are examples of personal data. On the website of the Dutch Data Protection Authority (the Dutch DPA) you will find more information about personal data and privacy legislation.

We ask you to submit personal data

1. upon registration for our weekly e-newsletter;
2. upon sending in applications for vacant positions;
3. upon registration for courses, symposia, or other events;
4. upon contacting our school or program through the contact form.

What kind of personal data do we ask for?
Depending on what you sign up for, a subset of the following data is asked:

• Name
• Email address
• Position
• Contract starting date and expected end date
• Affiliation
• Sex
• Address
• Place of birth
• Date of birth
• Nationality
• Phone number
• Dietary requirements
• Prior education

What do we do with your data?
We use the collected data:

1. to have insight in (the development of) our school’s and/or program’s community;
2. to send the e-newsletter and relevant targeted internal mailings;
3. to preselect candidates for vacancies;
4. for organizational and logistics purpose (in case of activities like courses, symposia, and events);
5. to reply to the requests submitted through the contact form.

How and how long do we store your data
All the data collected are stored at Delft University of Technology and Leiden University, exclusively for the Casimir office to use. The collected data will only be stored as long as necessary. Data collected to give insight on the Casimir community, to send the newsletter, or other relevant mailings, will be destroyed after the contract of the individual at Delft University of Technology or Leiden University has ended. Data collected to preselect candidates for vacancies will be shared with the head of the research group with a vacant position; the data will be destroyed immediately after sharing. Data collected for the purpose of organizing activities like courses, symposia or events are destroyed after the event has taken place. Data collected through the contact form will be destroyed immediately after responding to the received request.

Sharing of your personal data with third parties
All the information submitted through this website will be used only for the purpose it is submitted for. It will not be shared with third parties at any moment.

At any moment you can ask us to view, modify or delete the data you submitted through the website. Please send a request to info@casimir.researchschool.nl.

Cookies or similar techniques that we use
We use only technical cookies for statistics on our website use and software to operate our website. We do not use intentionally any cookies for gathering additional information on the website visitors, for advertorials, or any commercial activities.
