Abstract 

Functionalised surfaces for sensing

I will start with a short introduction of the department of Chemical Engineering and the Laboratory of Nano-organic chemistry in particular.

The focus of my presentation will be on our chemical and biosensor research, based primarily on ‘semiconductor-insulator-selector’ systems. In detail aspects of semiconductor surface functionalisation and electrical characterizations  of the final systems will be discussed.

Ernst Sudhölter studied chemistry at Groningen University, where he obtained his PhD degree (cum laude) in physical-organic chemistry with prof. Engberts. He joined Royal/Dutch Shell laboratories in Amsterdam and moved later to Wageningen University, where he became professor of Physical-organic chemistry. Since 2007 he is chairman of the Department of Chemical Engineering at TU Delft and also holds the chair of Nano-organic chemistry.

His current research interests cover the themes surface functionalisation, (bio)sensing and organic solar cells.
