Thursday June 12, optical pioneer Erik Betzig will present a Kavli Colloquium, Kavli Colloquium

Before his colloquium, we will have a special pre-program around the 2014 Kavli prizes that were announced last week, see http://www.kavlifoundation.org/2014-kavli-prize
These are high-profile prizes in nanoscience, neuroscience and astrophysics.

We now will highlight the three 2014 Kavli prizes in a preprogram of three short talks that briefly explain the content and some of the background of the research of these prize winners. I think this will be very interesting as we will also learn a bit of neuroscience and cosmology next to the nanoscience.

I am happy that we found 3 experts that will present the 2014 Kavli Prizes:
The Prize on astrophysics (this year on cosmic inflation theory):    Jan Pieter van der Schaar (Delta-Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of Amsterdam)
The Prize on neuroscience (this year on memory & cognition):    Rogier Min (Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience, Amsterdam)
The Prize on nanoscience  (this year on nano-topics):            Elio Abbondanzieri (BN)
