Advanced Microscopy for Biology

Description
This Casimir course is aimed at providing our PhD students with a solid background on the principles of optical and electron microscopy techniques and their applications to study biological processes from the single‐molecule to the cellular level.

On October 7th, 14th, 22nd, 28th, and November 4th (see attached scheme) the lecturers will elaborate on the following topics:

  • Fluorescence, microscopy, correlation spectroscopy, application FRET
  • Superresolution fluorescence microscopy
  • Live cell/animal fluorescence/bioluminescence imaging
  • SEM, TEM, AFM
  • Cryo‐TEM, Electron tomography, correlative light and electron microscopy

Lab tours are also part of the course days. For an overview of the topics and involved lecturers, please see the attached course schedule.
