Group leader/fellow positions in Open Artificial Intelligence, Synthetic and Systems Biology at CRI Paris
CRI Research INSERM U1284 invites researchers to join our Collaboratory as termed fellows and group leaders. We seek candidates at different career stages, from postdoctoral young investigators to tenured scientists. We particularly call for candidates with an interest in:
•    Open Artificial Intelligence – Understanding and shaping current digital transition in context of health, learning, and/or human-machine paradigms,
•    Open synthetic and systems biology – experimental research aligned with UN’s SDG goals.
Applications focusing on other broad themes relevant to CRI research: Open Health, Open Learning and Open Phronesis are welcomed as well.
We are looking for scientists seeking a home to expand their research focus or jump start a new research program as:
•    Long-term fellows (1-3 years) Candidates will be considered independent of their current position.
•    Core fellows (5 years), expected to contribute as pillars and mentors of the CRI Research community, and are required to hold a permanent position in France.

Anyone capable of carrying an autonomous research project, from young PhD graduates to established researchers (including sabbaticals) is eligible to apply to become a CRI Research Fellow, there are no age or experience limits. We particularly welcome scientists with permanent (tenured) position in France who would be keeping the affiliation to their current institution. Other researchers (e.g. international, post-docs, etc.) are welcome to apply, and will receive a salary in addition to research and personal funding.

Successful candidates will join the CRI growing Collaboratory within our dedicated building at the historical heart of Paris (the Marais). This 5300m2 building includes state-of-the-art office and wet lab space, microfabrication and Makerspace, Mobile and Virtual Reality technology, Game design, MOOC/online content development, pedagogic facilities and studio apartments for students and young researchers.
The core mission of the Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI) is to transform the way to research and acquire, share and co-create knowledge across the life, learning, and digital sciences. We are guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals towards high-impact work on specific topic combining biomedicine, natural sciences, education, and digital transformation.
We are looking for scientists who thrive in dynamic environments, are inspired and motivated by daily interactions with diverse peers, comfortably mix disciplines, rearrange, straddle field boundaries and wish to explore uncharted domains. We expect that our fellows will complement current competencies of the CRI and spark collaborative projects that go beyond the CRI community. We encourage projects and methodologies that can be successfully piloted here but eventually forked, reused, and remixed by others, outside of CRI. Around 20% of the fellow’s time should be contributed to cross-CRI activities (research collaborations, teaching, mentorship).
