The gap in the market for quantum information transfer

[19-03-2013]

Studies conducted by researchers from the Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter (FOM), TU Delft and TU Eindhoven have shown that, apart from electron spins, hole spins are also good candidates to be used as qubits, the information carriers in quantum computers. They succeeded in manipulating the hole spins electrically. This means these spins present a promising new alternative to the less stable electron spins. The research was published online this week, in Nature Nanotechnology. Read more
