PROGRAM

Casimir Summer School 2023

Date:

Time:

Three full days

Location:

Grou (Friesland)

This year, the biannual Casimir Spring School will be organized in August (thus basically making this edition a summer school). The final program can be found as a download below.

Casimir Summer School
The Casimir Summer School is a three-day event for Casimir PhDs and Postdocs. The program will include keynote speakers, several presentation sessions, workshops and poster sessions. In addition, we will explore the Frisian waters by sailing boat (if the weather allows). Besides the interesting talks and workshops, it is a great opportunity to present your research to your peers, and there is plenty of time to get to know your fellow Casimir's.

The School is held at Grou, mostly in or next to Herberg Oer 't Hout (address: Raadhuisstraat 18, 9001 AG, Grou).

Registration [CLOSED]
Registration for the Casimir Summer School is currently closed. However, there might still be a few spots available. Please contact our office if you are still interested in joining.

There is no participation fee for Casimir PhDs and Postdocs. Participants will be selected on a first-come-first-served base.

You will share a room with other participants. In the registration form, you can list your preferred roommates, or preferences for roommates. Although we will do our best, please note that your preferences cannot be guaranteed.

Abstract submission [CLOSED]
After registration, you will receive a link to submit your abstract. Please note that you do not have to present already published work. Selections will be based on topic.

You can submit an abstract for a poster presentation (submissions for oral presentations have already been closed). The submission deadline for poster presentations is Tuesday August 1st 2023. Poster boards will be A0-sized and vertically (portrait) oriented.

The submission deadline for oral presentations was Monday July 17th 2023. You will be notified of the outcome by July 20th. If your abstract was not selected for a talk, you will be offered a poster presentation instead.

Global program
You can find the outlines of the global program for the Casimir Summer School 2023 in the file below. Details on speakers and workshops will be shared with participants shortly.

Transport to and from Grou will be arranged by Casimir: busses will leave from Delft/Leiden on Tuesday morning, and will bring you back on Thursday late afternoon. If you prefer to travel by own transportation, you can indicate so via the registration form.

Credits
All participants of the Casimir Summer School 2023 will receive a certificate of attendance, which can be used to receive 1 credit (graduate school credit, GSC). When participants also present their work (either via a talk or a poster), they can receive a total of 1.5 credits.
